As promised some months ago certain members of the Club where going to go through the required CRB check procedure to enable KSAC to train under 18 year old trainees. The checks have now been completed successfully and KSAC are now in a position to discuss future requirements we need to put in place to enable certified KSAC members to train 14 to 18 year old trainees

July 2010 - Lundy Island Members of KSAC tried their luck again visiting Lundy Island. We also tried last year with a very different outcome, but this year the weather was kind to them and they had a great weekend. More pictures from Lundy in the photo Album (trip organiser Charles pictured on the right)

June 2010 - Capernwray Another trip to Capernwray was organised to see the new attraction, the large airliner recently placed in the quarry. The inside is fully stripped out and the tail is cut off to provide a great swim through. Also saw the sturgeon again!

Congratulations to Andrew on passing both Theory and Practical exams for the BSAC Open Water Instructor exams recently. The photo of him was taken in S'Algar Menorca where a group of KSAC divers spent 10 days in late May 2010 diving and enjoying the Sun. More photos of Menorca can be seen in the Photo Album.

April 2010 - Congratulations to Andrew (W) on completing his open water element for BSAC Sports Diver. Andrew has now completed all the required training to become the Clubs newest qualified Sports Diver. The final open water dive was at Eccelstone Delph on 17th April 2010.

Over the past few weeks KSAC have contacted other BSAC diving Clubs near to us to open up discussion between the Clubs and to form agreement to contact each other on a regular basis. This will benefit the individual Clubs when dive boats are difficult to fill, we can cooperate on training, and the use of equipment. We have had an initial meeting with The Congleton Club who have a RIB we can fill for them and we have a compressor they can use and the whole meeting went very well. The next meeting is planned with Sandbach Club shortly.

As planned KSAC are going through the initial stages of members going through BSAC CRB checks to be able to train new members who are between 14 and 18 years old. Once this has been verified one of the committee member will become the Clubs Welfare Officer and we can commence the Clubs Junior Members Section for Diving and Snorkelling. We will update you on this very shortly.

KSAC have a schedule of dive dates in collaboration with Keith Forster and his dive boat ESP for a number of dates throughout the year. Starting from St Georges Pier near the Menai Bridge we will dive wrecks around Anglesey and Liverpool Bay areas, full date fixtures on the EVENTS CALENDAR tab.

Free Scuba Diving Training - Any new trainees from the begining of April that sign up with KSAC will have their training F.O.C. and only need to pay for membership of BSAC (£50.00) and KSAC monthly subscriptions (£10.00 per month) everything else will be FREE saving £150.00 on training costs). So, if you know someone who wants to learn to Dive tell them now is the time to do it -                           With KSAC

KSAC are starting a new section within the Dive Club soon dedicated to teach new and existing members to snorkel properly and with confidense. To enable the Club to do this we are setting up Instructor training courses with a BSAC qualified National Instructor in house at Knutsford Pool. Any member who wishes to become a qualified BSAC snorkelling instructor can apply, see Nick (S). We have 8 places and 6 have been taken so far.

Our recent trip to Capernwary March 2010. Congratulations to Andrew (W) on passing his Sports Diver Theory and to round it off passing his first two open water dives at Capernwray. Bouyancy is everything, as we can see here with the 6 metre platform in the background. More picture of our start of season dive in the photo Album. In the evening we also were treated to the start of season supper with excellent food and free following wine to round off an excellent KSAC event.

The KSAC Committee recently voted to arrange a Start of Dive Season Event to shake off those winter cobwebs and get back into the water. This event will be a trip to Capernwray on Sunday 21st March, assembling at 10:00 in the Car Park for the first of two dives. To make this even sweeter KSAC will be paying your entrance fee for the day, so get those drysuits on check out your kit and come along, I will definitely be  there looking for the Sturgeon I spotted on my last visit (picture to prove it).

Following the Start of Season dive, we are holding the first social event of the year an evening supper where again KSAC will will be footing the bill for this including the wine, but bring your own beer. Partners will be very welcome to come along to this and will kick off at 6pm in Andrew and Gail's games room (please contact a committee member if you are unsure where this is). We do need to know how many will come to this please as catering needs to organised. So please contact Gail or Malcolm or send an email via info@knustford-divers.com

ODE TO THE POOL

Do you cast off your jeans and get in the pool
Or sit in reception and try to look cool?

Do you do fifty lengths then go down the pub
or sit and discuss the events in the Club?

Do you get your trunks on and go for a dip
Or think of the pub and lager and chips?

Do you find that swimming is such a bore?
And would like to do something that’s less of a chore?

The committee are thinking of some serious fun
                         And want to include everyone

Are you up for a challenge on a Tuesday Night?
To end the nearly empty pool sight?

Notice will be given of this adventure night
No excuses allowed – no saying - yeah all right

Get your cozzies on and get soaking wet
But we ain’t telling you what is happening yet!

This little ditty was penned to try and encourage more people into the pool on Tuesday nights and if we were to make the pool night more entertaining then we will find an activity to get those of you back into the pool who usually clog up the reception area at the Leisure Centre. Barring any training going on that evening that is. Who's up for it?

We have often discussed the subject of teaching existing members and new members to Snorkel properly. Now we think it's time to encourage snorkelling within the Club and offer this activity to prospective members as a way to attract new members to the Club. We would like any member, on the committee or not, to step forward and become a full BSAC snorkelling intructor so that we can advertise this activity as part of out training and who knows it could lead to more full diving members in the long term.
